Supporting Forensically-Involved NDIS Participants

Services National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

As experts in behavioural science, our approach to behavioural change focuses on creating opportunities for participants to choose to communicate and act in safer and more interpersonally rewarding ways.

The Code Black team has expertise in behavioural assessments and functional behavioural analyses. Our forensically trained team members are also skilled in knowing how behaviour change can be included in the range of strategies available to mitigate risk to self and others.

Code Black Psychology provides behaviour support in particularly complex cases where there are multiple behaviours of concern, psychosocial disability arising from severe mental illness, extreme functional impairment, and very high support needs. We adhere to the requirements of the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework and have the skills and experience to provide supervision and support to other behaviour support practitioners.

Expertise when you need it

NDIS Behaviour Support Plans often require expert input from forensic and clinical psychologists. That’s why we regularly work with NDIS behaviour support practitioners and NDIS suppliers. Wherever possible, we take a non-punitive approach to harmful behaviour management. While all cases are different, we commonly help our clients resolve the following issues:

  • Discovering the function of complex harmful behaviours, such as threatening violence
  • Knowing how to use behavioural science to guide the processes of behaviour change
  • Managing multiple harmful behaviours
  • Minimising and fading out the use of restrictive practices
  • Describing the differences and overlap between behaviour change and risk management
  • Incorporating forensic behavioural science
