  • Provide consultations and coordination in highly complex cases
  • Articulate the elements of complexity in the case and their cumulative effect
  • Provide a forensic lens to complex cases to determine the factors contributing to risk and the evidence-based strategies to effectively mitigate risk
  • Access experienced practitioners in the field of complex diagnostics and risk
  • Preserve service system resources and address system fatigue
  • Create a sustainable model of care for each case

What we do

  • MACNI consultations and assessments
  • MACNI care plan development
  • MACNI care plan coordination

As specialists in complex case formulation, we create a comprehensive understanding of the complexity of clients and their situations and the risks clients pose to themselves and others. Our multi-disciplinary team have expertise working with persistently high-risk people and the many factors that contribute to their risk. We recognise the particular needs of those from marginalised and vulnerable populations, such as women, young people, the LGBTIQA+ community, and those whose cultural and religious heritage exposes them to individual and systemic injustice.

The expertise we include in providing MACNI services includes :

  • Risk mitigation expertise
  • Accurate and timely advice to health practitioners, staff and carers about risk management
  • Expertise working with complex patients who have two or more diagnoses
  • Experience working with people whose diagnoses are chronic and treatment resistant
  • Sector capacity and skill building
  • Examining the association between diagnoses behaviour
