Career Pathways

At Code Black, practitioners work across consulting, clinical and service system environments. We offer career pathways across three key practice areas and specialise in understanding pattern based harm, the drivers of this behaviour and its impact. Our organisation excels in threat assessment and management, violence risk assessment, functional behaviour assessments, stalking, coercive control, threatening, querulents and persistent complainers, gender based violence, psychologically safe workplaces, youth violence and stable bases intervention framework.

Psychology

Our Psychologists work at the intersection of psychological practice, forensic contexts and complex service systems.
The work includes psychological assessment, neuropsychological assessment, behavioural and forensic formulation, consultation to services and government agencies and supporting multidisciplinary care teams working with individuals experiencing complex mental health and psychosocial disability.   
Psychologists at Code Black are encouraged to think systemically — understanding not only the individual, but the environments, service systems and risk contexts surrounding them.
We have opportunities for registered Psychologists, Psychology Interns and can support Psychology student placements
 
You will be suited to Psychology at Code Black if you:
  • Are a registered Psychologist (AHPRA)
  • Have experience or interest in forensic, trauma-informed or complex mental health practice
  • Enjoy formulation, consultation and complex case work

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Our Positive Behaviour Support practitioners work with individuals whose behaviour is influenced by complex trauma, psychosocial disability, neurodevelopmental conditions and systemic challenges.
The role involves conducting functional behaviour assessments, developing behaviour support plans, supporting care teams and applying evidence-based strategies that improve quality of life while reducing risk.
PBS practitioners at Code Black often contribute beyond traditional plan development, working alongside services and organisations to understand behaviour within complex service environments.

 

You will be suited to PBS at Code Black if you:
  • Have experience working within the NDIS or complex support environments
  • Enjoy analysing behaviour and developing practical strategies
  • Want to work with complex or high-risk presentations
  • Value collaboration with multidisciplinary teams

Coordination

(Specialist Support Coordination & Complex Case Coordination)
Our Coordination team supports individuals with highly complex needs to navigate service systems and build sustainable support arrangements.
This work often involves coordinating multiple agencies and services, managing risk, and supporting teams to work more effectively together. Practitioners frequently operate across disability, psychosocial disability, mental health and justice systems.
You will be suited to Coordination at Code Black if you:
  • Have experience in Specialist Support Coordination or complex case management
  • Understand the NDIS and related service systems
  • Are confident working with complex or high-risk situations
  • Enjoy problem solving and building relationships across services

Our recruitment process is designed to be transparent and collaborative.
1. Expression of Interest
Submit a brief introduction and CV outlining your background and area of interest.
2. Initial conversation
An informal discussion with a Director or Manager to explore your interests and experience.
3. Interview
A structured discussion about your experience, approach to complex work and alignment with Code Black’s values.
4. Offer and onboarding
If there is mutual interest, we discuss role structure, supervision arrangements and working preferences.
